JamDeal was founded in 2006 by Chad Cunningham. After searching every where for a new cell phone, Chad found that there was nowhere where he could search and compare phones available for sale in Jamaica. Considering how widely used eBay was across the world, he believed that Jamaica deserved to have its own online auction marketplace, so why not build one? Within months the site was a reality and Jamaicans have been signing up, buying and selling, ever since.
About the Marketplace
JamDeal.com is a marketplace that brings buyers and sellers together in Jamaica and allows them to buy and sell virtually anything in an exciting auction format, using the Internet. JamDeal does not actually sell goods that it owns itself. It merely facilitates the process of listing goods, bidding on items, and paying for them. It acts as a marketplace for individuals and businesses who use the site to auction off goods and services.
Prices of goods offered on JamDeal are not fixed. The price is determined by the minimum price that the seller is willing to accept for his product and the maximum price that the buyer is willing to pay. Sellers are able to convert their excess products into cash and buyers are able to find products at very desirable prices. Goods sold range from antiques and clothes to computers, home electronics, motor vehicles, books, music and sports equipment. Vendors may be individuals or companies selling new or second hand goods.
Our infrastructure is designed to provide the fastest most reliable auction format available. JamDeal operates on Linux servers. We are predominantly PHP language running on MySQL databases, allowing us to share the massive amounts of transactions over database instances.
